A leek harvester undercarriage
This high speed undercarriage was delivered to Verhoest Agricultural Machinery a little while ago. The undercarriage is used for a machine that helps harvest leek. Verhoest indicated to be very satisfied and even calls Verhoest and VTS “the perfect match”! They name a number of important advantages of this high-speed undercarriage that are a perfect match for Verhoest’s needs:
- The undercarriage is ideal for achieving high speeds. Because the machine can reach speeds of up to 8.5 km per hour, harvesting can be done efficiently and at high speed, and the machine can drive from field to field on paved roads without the use of a low loader and without damaging the soil.
- Because the tracks are made of rubber, the machine can be driven on roads.
- The choice of components results in a smooth ride, which minimises vibrations. This means that the harvested product is of better quality and therefore yields more.
- The bottom rollers have a large diameter, a wide tread and are suspended, which reduces wear and prevents damage to the surface. The caterpillar “follows” the ground, as it were.
- The front wheel and drive sprocket are raised, which has the advantage that the machine can also be used in extremely wet conditions. This way, the harvesting can always take place!
With this track system Verhoest can once again build a practical and efficient harvesting machine with a satisfied end user! Check out the photos of the machine and the driving gear below.
