VTS Track Solutions contributes with electric carrier to construction of the tallest building in the Benelux
By delivering a fully electric and remotely controllable carrier to engineering firm Civiele technieken CT De Boer, VTS Track Solutions, with headquarters in Maarheeze, is contributing to the construction of the tallest residential tower in the Netherlands.
Electric carrier
The carrier built by VTS Track Solutions for CT De Boer from Nieuwegein is a tracked vehicle with rotating platform. It has an electric drive and is equipped with a lithium ion battery pack. Besides, the vehicle can be controlled remotely and can carry loads up to 2.5 tonnes. This makes the carrier extremely suitable for transporting heavy equipment at construction sites, company grounds or in workshops. And all this without the harmful emissions from the exhaust.
In the construction of De Zalmhaven, the carrier is used to move jacking equipment and other heavy material to hard-to-reach places. For example, the steel tubes for the lifting shed which is used in the construction of the tower.
Zalmhaven
CT Boer has been jacking, sliding and pressing structural elements for 30 years now. In 2016 the company jacked up the largest railway bridge ever to its final location. The company is currently contributing to the construction of the highest building in the Netherlands: De Zalmhaven in Rotterdam.
The tower is built with the help of a lifting shed. This is a self-climbing platform from where the residential tower is built. The platform climbs one floor a week up to a final 190 metres. Including the mast, the building will eventually be 215 meters high and will contain over 250 apartments.
